On November 5, 2016, there was a fatal two-vehicle crash in rural Kane County. Two teenagers – Arthur Stenger, 16, of Montgomery, and Elijah Vajgert, 16, of Maple Park – died in the crash. The accident – in which Stenger was the driver – is summarized in the November 6, 2016 post titled “Fatal Car Accident In Unincorporated Kane County.”
Recently, there has been a wrongful death lawsuit filed with regard to the crash. That wrongful death lawsuit is summarized in the Daily Herald article of March 10, 2017, titled “Family of teen killed in crash sues family of classmate behind wheel.”
An excerpt from that article concerning the collision between the pickup truck the teenagers were in and a semi truck:
“The force and power of the collision caused the pickup truck to be propelled off the roadway and to be engulfed in fire and flames,” read part of the lawsuit. “The next of kin of Elijah Vajgert sustained pecuniary injuries as a direct and proximate result of his death, including loss of society, grief, sorrow and mental suffering.”
The lawsuit argues Arthur Stenger, of Montgomery, failed to keep a proper lookout and failed to yield to traffic, in this case the semitrailer. Stenger and Vajgert were best friends who met in seventh grade.
Additional details and possible updates concerning this Illinois fatal vehicle collision and resulting wrongful death lawsuit can be seen in the sources mentioned above.
