A wrongful death lawsuit was filed regarding a hit & run accident that occurred in downtown Chicago. The wrongful death lawsuit was filed regarding the death of Zoraleigh Ryan, who on August 10, 2020 was fatally injured by a SUV that hit her and her daughter. The hit & run happened as Zoraleigh Ryan and her daughter, Shannon, were walking across Hubbard Street in a crosswalk.
This wrongful death lawsuit – and the underlying hit & run – is discussed in a variety of media sources, including the August 26, 2020 Chicago Sun-Times article titled “Family of woman killed in downtown hit-and-run sues alleged driver.” An excerpt, mentioning the alleged driver, Edgar Roman, 25, of Albany Park:
According to prosecutors, who have charged Roman with murder and attempted murder, the driver barreled into the mother and daughter while they were in the crosswalk at Hubbard and State streets. Roman stopped, got out of his vehicle and approached the mother and daughter, prosecutors say. When a witness tried to take his picture, Roman got allegedly back in the SUV and drove away.
He returned less than a minute later and ran over the mother, who was lying hurt but conscious near the curb, prosecutors say. The witness managed to grab the daughter and pull her out of the way. She suffered a broken wrist and abrasions.
Additional details and possible updates can be seen in the sources mentioned above.
