Wrongful Death Lawsuit Filed In Lakeview Taxi Accident In Chicago

A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed in a case involving an elderly woman who was fatally hit by a cab driver while she was walking within a crosswalk in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood last year.

The lawsuit, filed by the deceased woman’s brother, was filed today against both the cab company, Yellow Cab Company, as well as the cab driver, Mohammed Ahmed.

An excerpt from the July 10 Chicago Tribune article titled “Brother of victim files wrongful-death lawsuit in Lakeview taxi accident” :

Ahmed was traveling west on Briar Place Aug. 22 when he tried to turn left on Sheridan. His cab then hit Kier as she was walking east in the crosswalk, according to the lawsuit.

Police issued Ahmed, 40, two citations: one for failure to use due care when a pedestrian is present, and a second for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
