There was another Chicago area “wrong-way driver” incident early this morning (November 9, 2014) which involved an accident on the Stevenson Expressway (I-55) near Damen Avenue.
The Illinois State Police (ISP) say they received calls regarding a driver traveling in the wrong direction (driving northbound in the southbound lanes) of I-55 near Damen Avenue at approximately 1:30 a.m.
Shortly after this time, the “wrong-way driver” – identified as a 22-year-old woman from Chicago – collided “head on” with another vehicle. That vehicle was driven by a 29-year-old woman from Willowbrook, Illinois.
The driver from Willowbrook had to be extricated from her vehicle, and was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries considered to be non-life-threatening.
The “wrong-way driver” was also taken to a hospital for treatment of her accident injuries, which were considered to be minor injuries.
Additional details and possible updates can be seen in a variety of media sources, including the November 9, 2014 Chicago Tribune article titled “2 women seriously injured after wrong-way crash on I-55” as well as the abc7chicago.com article of November 9 titled “2 critically injured in wrong-way crash on I-55.”
