“Wrong-Way Driver” Accident Leads To Fatality In Logan Square

There was a fatal accident involving a “wrong-way driver” on Christmas Day in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood.

An SUV traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of North Pulaski Road struck a 2001 Volkswagon Golf. Although the driver of the Golf, a 25-year-old woman, tried to swerve to avoid the oncoming SUV, the SUV nonetheless struck the passenger side of the car around 4:45 a.m. The accident happened in the 2600 block of North Pulaski Road.

A passenger in the rear seat of the Golf, Obdulia Villalobos, 67, died after the accident. She was pronounced dead at 5:18 a.m. at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.

The 25-year-old female driver of the Golf – said to be the daughter of Obdulia Villalobos – was also taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. Another passenger in the car, a 25-year-old male, was not injured.

The SUV, a Blazer, fled the scene. The SUV and its driver were found in a different location by Chicago Police.

The accident remains under investigation.
