There was a “wrong-way driver” accident on Thursday afternoon (February 13, 2014) in Maywood, Illinois, involving a driver who struck a Pace bus and then hit three pedestrians in a 1st Avenue crosswalk.
This “wrong-way driver” accident happened at approximately 3:35 p.m.

Scott J. Stubler, 24, of the 1800 block of Moen Avenue, was charged with aggravated DUI after he drove his Nissan Sentra south in the northbound lane of the 2100 block of South 1st Avenue near Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood Thursday afternoon, according to the Cook County sheriff’s office.
Stubler struck a Pace bus, then three pedestrians in a 1st Avenue crosswalk, according to the sheriff’s office. The pedestrians were taken to a hospital for treatment, and two of them suffered serious injuries, according to the sheriff’s office.
Five of the passengers on the bus, identified as those with special needs, were taken to a hospital as a precaution.
Stubler was also taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
According to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office, at the time of this “wrong-way” driver accident Stubler was under the influence of heroin, morphine and codeine.

Stubler was also ticketed for failure to reduce speed, improper traffic lane usage, failing to yield to pedestrians in a crosswalk and drive without insurance, according to Cook County court records.
