Woman Injured During Glencoe Bicycle Accident

Due to a number of factors, bicycle accidents often lead to a range of injuries, many serious, if not life-threatening, in nature.  The potential for serious injuries is increased if the bicyclist is not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.  Wearing bicycle helmets reduces the possibility of head injuries during accidents, as discussed in the July 12, 2014 post titled “Bicycling Helmets And Their Importance Regarding Head Injuries.”

There was a bicycle accident Tuesday (March 15, 2016) in Glencoe in which a woman suffered what has been described as “near life-threatening injuries.”  Details on the accident appear to be limited at this time.

According to Glencoe Police, the accident happened on the 200 block of Scott Avenue, and involved a 70-year-old woman who was hit by a car while riding a bicycle.

She was taken to Evanston Hospital for treatment of her accident injuries.

Additional details and possible updates concerning this bicycle accident can be seen in a variety of media sources, including the March 15, 2016 Glencoe News article titled “Woman on bicycle injured in accident with car” as well as the March 16 Wilmette-Kenilworth Patch article titled “70-Year-Old Woman Hit By Car.”
