Last night, a woman died after being hit a car as she crossed the street in Chicago’s Chatham neighborhood.
The woman, Rose Harris, 59, of Chicago, was hit by a car as she crossed the street at approximately 6:50 p.m. According to authorities, the accident happened at the intersection of 59th and St. Lawrence.
Harris was crossing between two cars at the time of the accident, and it is believed that the driver did not have time to react before hitting her. The driver, Diedre Scott-Johnson, 66, of Chicago, stayed at the scene following the accident.
Harris was pronounced dead at 7:06 p.m., after having been taking to Holy Cross Hospital.
According to Chicago Police, Diedre Scott-Johnson was cited for driving without a license and without insurance.
