In various posts in this site, the high level of Chicago traffic and associated congestion and long travel times are discussed. Among these posts are the following:
A recent study now indicates that Chicago has the worst “traffic bottleneck” in the United States.
The study, by the American Highway Users Alliance, indicates that the 12-mile length on the Kennedy Expressway (I-90) between the Circle Interchange (I-290) and Edens junction (I-94) as the nation’s worst “choke point.”
Two other Chicago area expressways are also highly ranked. As seen in the WGNTV.com article (with video) of November 23, 2015 titled “Chicago has the worst traffic bottleneck in the country, study says“:
Among the top 50 bottlenecks, there were two others in Chicago. Coming in at No. 23 on the list is I-90 between the Stevenson Expressway (I-55) and West Pershing Road. No. 46 is located on I-94 between the I-90 interchange and North Elston Avenue.
Additional details and possible updates can be seen in the WGNTV.com article mentioned above, as well as the November 23 NBC Chicago article (with video) titled “Chicago Ranks 1st in U.S. for Worst Traffic Bottleneck.”
