The two children, identified as Elizabeth Peralta, 9, and Dylan Peralta, 4, were pronounced dead after being taken to Mount Sinai Hospital.
An excerpt from the Chicago Tribune article of March 7, 2015 titled “Police: Chicago mother, 2 kids dead after being hit by truck“:
Witnesses told WGN-TV that the mother and two children were holding hands as they crossed the street and the mother was dragged for a distance after the impact. Clerks at a nearby Cricket Wireless store told WGN-TV that Peralta-Luna had been shopping for a phone for her daughter before picking up her son at a day care nearby.
