Lee Luellen, 40, was riding a bike west on 67th Street about 1 a.m. when he was hit by a northbound Chevrolet Impala in the intersection with Stony Island Avenue, according to Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

This South Side bicycle accident is under investigation by the Chicago Police Department Major Accident Investigation Unit.
While, in some instances, accidents are the fault of the bicyclist, many such accidents are the fault of motorists. As well, there may be road hazards that may lead to a bicyclist crashing and suffering the associated injuries.
Riding in urban settings, especially during heavy traffic, can present many potential challenges to safe riding.
