Skokie “Hit & Run” Accident Leads To Death Of Pedestrian

There was a fatal “hit & run” accident in which a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle in Skokie on Monday (March 5, 2018) evening.

According to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office, the accident occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m. in the 800 block of Kilpatrick Avenue.

The woman that was fatally hit was identified as Maggie French, 58, of Skokie.  She died after being taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston for treatment of her accident injuries.

According to a subsequent autopsy, she died from multiple injuries resulting from being hit by the vehicle.

The driver of the car that allegedly struck Maggie French was subsequently apprehended a short time later.

Skokie police said Luz Maria Aguilar-Soto, 28, of Skokie, was charged Tuesday with leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident involving personal injury or death.


Police were able to identify the vehicle Aguilar-Soto was driving as the one allegedly involved in the hit-and-run “based on information developed at the scene and evidence left behind after the crash,” Swaback said.
