Many Chicago-area accidents have occurred when a driver attempts to elude police, resulting in a police chase. The driver who is being chased by police often is doing so after committing a crime, and thus attempts to get away from police. These attempts to “get away from police” often includes driving at very fast speeds and in a reckless fashion.
There was a “hit & run” accident Saturday (April 21, 2018) in Lincoln Park in which a person was struck by a SUV that was attempting to elude police during a police chase. The pedestrian was injured and in critical condition.
The accidents are discussed in a variety of media sources, including the April 21, 2018 CBS Chicago article (with video) titled “One Person Critically Injured In Carjacking And Car Chase.” As seen in that article as well as other descriptions, the pedestrian was hit by the fleeing vehicle at Halsted Street and Fullerton Avenue at approximately 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
Details on the pedestrian’s accident injuries do not appear to be publicly available.
Additional details and possible updates concerning this “hit & run” accident that left a pedestrian critically injured can be seen in the sources mentioned above.
