A pedestrian accident happened this morning in Chicago when a woman was hit by a garbage truck while walking in the Uptown neighborhood.

A woman was hospitalized in serious-to-critical condition this morning after she was hit by a garbage truck in the Uptown neighborhood, officials said.
The accident happened at about 9:42 a.m. on the 4400 block of North Broadway when a private garbage truck struck the female pedestrian, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli.
She was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Hospital by Chicago Fire Department paramedics, but was alert and talking, Mirabelli said. No one else was injured.
Officials from the Chicago police department’s major accident division are investigating, Mirabelli said.
