Mother Killed And Two Sons Injured When SUV Hit By Metra Train

There was a fatal accident this morning as a minivan was struck by a Metra train in Chicago’s Morgan Park neighborhood.

It is being reported that the driver of the minivan went around the lowered railroad crossing gates.

The driver has been identified as Tristian Hicks Williams, 26. She died at the accident scene. Her two sons were also injured during the accident, but are expected to recover.

The accident happened near 115th and Vincennes in Morgan Park at approximately 8:15 a.m.

The Chicago Fire Department says the family was trapped in the car after the accident.

According to Metra officials, the train was going full speed at the time of impact.

While it appears the gates and lights were functioning correctly, Metra has said they will review the signaling systems to confirm their proper operation.
