McKinley Park Pedestrian Accident Injures Boy And Man

A 5-year-old boy and 24-year-old man were struck by a pickup truck in Chicago’s McKinley Park neighborhood on Wednesday morning, March 15, 2017.  The man and boy were struck as they were walking across Ashland Avenue at 37th Street.

The pedestrian accident happened at 8:08 a.m.  The accident happened as a Chevy pickup truck was attempting to turn from 37th Street onto Ashland Avenue.

The boy was injured and taken to Stroger Hospital for treatment of his accident injuries.  He was in critical condition.  According to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office, the boy, identified as Daniel Solis, 5, of Chicago, was pronounced dead at 5:47 p.m. Friday.

The man suffered minor injuries in the accident but refused medical treatment.

The driver of the pickup truck was identified as a 41-year-old man.

The Chicago Police Major Accidents Investigation Unit is investigating this pedestrian accident.
