On Sunday morning, October 2, there was a car accident on Chicago’s Dan Ryan Expressway that involved three vehicles and left one man dead and three seriously injured.
The accident occurred around 9:16 a.m. on the outbound Dan Ryan just south of 89th Street, according to the Illinois State Police.
Reginal Fox, 45, of Chicago, was driving a 2001 BMW X5. He and the driver of a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix both tried to move into the same lane. The two vehicles collided, causing Fox to lose control of his X5 and cross, to the left, all lanes of traffic. The X5 was then struck by another vehicle, a 2011 GMC Yukon, and both vehicles then hit the left concrete barrier. The X5 rolled over; Fox, who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle.
According to a spokeswoman for the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office, Fox was pronounced dead at Roseland Community Hospital at 10 a.m. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
The Illinois State Police said four people in total were taken to hospitals.
