Low-Speed Bus Accident In Chicago’s Austin Neighborhood Sends 23 People To Hospital

A low-speed bus accident in Chicago’s Austin neighborhood (West Side of Chicago) has sent 23 people to the hospital.

The accident occurred between a Pace bus and another vehicle today at around 4:00 p.m. The vehicle struck the Pace bus making a right turn from West Corcoran Place to North Mayfield Avenue.

23 people requested to be transported to the hospital, according to a Pace spokesperson.

Paramedics took 15 people in fair condition and eight people in good condition to local hospitals, the fire department said. Three of those hospitalized were reported to be children.

The Pace spokesperson described the accident as a “fender-bender” and said the damage was primarily scratches, paint transfer and a broken headlight.

Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Darryl Baety said the accident is being classified as property damage only.
