Late last night, a 20-year-old woman and a baby were injured during a car accident on Interstate 55 (I55).
The car went over the edge of the Route 83 bridge, and landed on its roof on the southbound lanes.
According to Illinois State Police Master Sgt. Bart Lamb, both the woman and baby suffered serious injuries but are expected to survive.
Police suspect that the woman may have fallen asleep while she was driving, thereby losing control of the car and causing the accident.
The accident is still under investigation.
