There was a fatal Chicago car accident on Saturday afternoon (December 21, 2013) in Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood.
The car accident occurred at the intersection of West Garfield Boulevard and South Halsted Street at approximately 12:30 p.m.
The two vehicles involved in this Chicago traffic accident were a Chevrolet Suburban and a stolen vehicle.

Shortly before the crash, police had attempted to stop a vehicle in the area that had been taken in an armed carjacking, police said. When officers activated their police lights in an attempt to curb the stolen vehicle, the driver sped off and struck the Suburban, police said.
One passenger in the Suburban, identified as Donovan Turnage, 11, of Chicago, was ejected from the vehicle. He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 1:35 p.m.
Another passenger in the Suburban, identified only as an adult male, was also taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center.
After the vehicle collision involving the Suburban and stolen vehicle, the driver of the stolen vehicle fled the scene of the accident.
According to Chicago Police, the police chase will be reviewed by the department’s Traffic Review Board.
The traffic accident remains under investigation.
