There was a fatal three-vehicle crash Wednesday morning (April 29, 2015) on the Stevenson Expressway (I-55) near Throop Street.
According to the Illinois State Police, the accident happened at approximately 5:45 a.m. in the inbound lanes. At that time, two SUVs and a car collided.
One person, Enrique Moreno, 28, of the 4500 block of South Troy, was taken to Mercy Hospital and Medical Center. He was later pronounced dead.
Another person was taken to Stroger Hospital for treatment of accident injuries, and that person was reported to be in serious-to-critical condition. A third person was taken to Mercy Hospital.

State Police said the crash was caused by “an unsafe lane change,” but did not elaborate Wednesday evening, citing the ongoing investigation.
