There was a fatal car collision Thursday night (August 27, 2015) in Robbins. The accident appears to have occurred between two cars that were “street racing” and one car that was not.
The accident happened at approximately 7:40 p.m., when two cars that allegedly were racing each other “ran” a stop sign at 137th Street and Central Park Avenue, and collided with a minivan.
After the impact of the collision, the minivan was pushed significantly away from the street and flipped onto its roof.
Two people in the minivan, Cherise Davis-Jones, 43, of Robbins, and her husband, Less Jones, 59, were taken to hospitals, and were shortly thereafter pronounced dead.
Their three children, Chloe, 8; Josh, 4; and Less Jones IV, 7, were taken to Christ Medical Center for treatment of their accident injuries.
All five occupants of the minivan were said to have been wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
The two cars that were speeding were a Buick Regal and Nissan Altima. They each had two occupants. Three of the four occupants were taken to hospitals for treatment of their accident injuries.
Due to the severity of the crash, accident debris was spread about a half-block area.
