Fatal Multi-Vehicle Accident On Chicago’s West Side

There was a fatal car accident in Chicago Sunday morning (July 14, 2013) on the West Side that happened during the course of a police chase.

Chicago Police were engaged in a high-speed pursuit of a shooting suspect when the suspect crashed first into a CTA bus, and then two other vehicles, at Chicago and Pulaski.

According to Chicago Police, Marisol Mercado, 35, died early Sunday morning from injuries sustained from the collision, as she was in one of the two cars that were hit following the suspect’s collision with the CTA bus.

A total of nine people – four of them in serious-to-critical condition – had to be hospitalized as a result of the accident.
