Fatal Lake Shore Drive Car Rollover Crash

There was a fatal rollover crash early Friday morning (March 10, 2017) on Lake Shore Drive.  The accident happened in the 700 block of South Lake Shore Drive, at Lake Shore Drive and East Balbo Drive.

According to Chicago Police, the crash happened at approximately 1:15 a.m.  The crash involved a southbound minivan that collided with a northbound car as the car attempted to make a left-hand turn onto East Balbo Drive.

The car flipped during the collision.

Three people were pinned in the car and had to be extricated by the Chicago Fire Department.

Those trapped included a 27-year-old man who was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital and pronounced dead.  A 29-year-old woman was also taken to Northwestern and listed in serious condition.  A 28-year-old man was in critical condition and taken to Stroger Hospital for treatment of his accident injuries.

The driver of the minivan driver was not injured during the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.  No citations had been issued as of 3:45 a.m.
