There was a fatal “hit & run” crash Sunday (July 15, 2018) night in Chicago’s Belmont Cragin neighborhood. The crash led to the death of a man who was struck by a SUV as he was trying to cross the street.
Like many other “hit & run” accidents summarized on this site, the SUV was reportedly driving at a high rate of speed at the time of the accident.
At approximately 10:20 p.m., the 64-year-old man was crossing Fullerton when he was hit by an eastbound SUV in the 5200 block of West Fullerton.
The pedestrian was identified as Alberto Zavala, 64, of Chicago. He was pronounced dead after being taken to the hospital.
The SUV that left the accident scene was a white Ford Edge SUV that had tinted windows. As a result of the crash it lost its drivers-side mirror and likely had damage to its front end.
