Fatal Head-On Collision Near North Aurora

There was a fatal two-vehicle collision Tuesday morning (March 29, 2016) near North Aurora.

According to the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened at approximately 10:15 a.m., as a Chevrolet Trailblazer traveling northbound on Route 31 near Mooseheart Road crossed into the southbound lanes for a currently undisclosed reason.  In doing so, a “head-on collision” occurred between the Trailblazer and a Ford pickup traveling southbound.

The driver of the Trailblazer was declared dead at the accident scene after being extricated from the vehicle.  He was identified as Jose Quitl, 21, of Aurora.

The driver of the pickup truck was identified as Brandon Haller, 24, of Maple Park.  He was taken to Delnor Hospital for treatment of his accident injuries, which were considered non-life-threatening in nature.

Sheriff’s detectives and investigators from the county’s Accident Reconstruction Team are still investigating the crash. They have not determined if drugs, alcohol, texting or excessive speed were involved, officials said.
