Fatal Gage Park Pedestrian Accident Involving Boy Hit By Semi Truck

There was a fatal pedestrian accident Tuesday afternoon (March 5, 2019) in Chicago’s Gage Park neighborhood.  This fatal Gage Park pedestrian accident involved a semi truck hitting a 14-year-old boy.

At 3:48 p.m., the semitrailer was westbound on 51st Street when the driver turned north onto Western Avenue and struck the boy, according to Chicago police and Chicago Fire Media Affairs.

Anthony Macedo was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was initially listed in critical condition and later pronounced dead, police and the Cook County medical examiner’ office said.

The semi driver, who initially left the accident scene, was cited for failure to yield and for driving an uninsured vehicle.

This fatal Gage Park pedestrian accident is under investigation by the Chicago Police Department Major Accident Investigation Unit.
