Fatal Des Plaines Multi-Vehicle Accident On Touhy Avenue

There was a fatal car accident Monday morning (January 29, 2018) on Touhy Avenue in Des Plaines.  The accident involved a car crossing the center line and colliding with an oncoming truck.

According to police, the accident happened just before 10:00 a.m., as a 2016 Kia was heading eastbound on Touhy Avenue.  For some reason, the car crossed the center line and went into the westbound lanes, thereby colliding with a 2000 Mack Truck.

After hitting the truck, the Kia then went into the eastbound lanes and it was struck by a 2011 Chevy car.

After being extricated by the Park Ridge Fire Department, the driver of the Kia, identified as Mary Ann Neil, 68, of Des Plaines, was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital.  She was declared dead.

The other drivers were also injured, but their injuries were considered to be non-life-threatening in nature.

The accident remains under investigation.
