Fatal Bicycle Accident In Chicago Heights

There was a fatal bicycle accident Wednesday night (April 29, 2015) in Chicago Heights.

According to the Illinois State Police (ISP), the accident happened at approximately 7:49 p.m., as a man riding a bicycle on Illinois Route 394 near the East Sauk Trail attempted to ride across both the north and south lanes at the Sauk Trail intersection.

In doing so, he was struck by a northbound vehicle.

The man, identified as Robert Kirn, 59, of Lynwood, was taken to Stroger Hospital for treatment of his accident injuries.  According to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office, he was pronounced dead at 2:49 a.m. Thursday.

The driver of the car was not cited in the accident.
