Fatal Bicycle Accident In Chicago’s Bridgeport Neighborhood

There was a fatal bicycle accident Thursday night (September 4, 2014) in the Bridgeport neighborhood on Chicago’s South Side.
According to Chicago Police, the bicycling accident happened at approximately 11:00 p.m., as the bicyclist was riding westbound through the 700 block of West 33rd Street. At that point he failed to stop at a red light, and was struck by a Jeep Wrangler that was heading south.

The bicyclist was identified as Jacob Bass, 20, of Chicago. According to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office, he was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

According to Chicago Police, the driver of the car was ticketed for not having a valid license.
