There was a fatal bicycle accident Friday morning (July 1, 2016) in Chicago’s Avondale neighborhood. The accident involved a woman bicyclist (later identified as Virginia Murray, 25, of Chicago) being fatally struck by a flatbed truck.
According to Chicago Police, a preliminary investigation indicates that the accident happened at approximately 9:00 a.m., as the truck and bicyclist were both traveling northbound on Sacramento. As both the truck and bicyclist attempted to turn east onto Belmont Avenue, the truck struck – and one prominent media source indicates ran over – the bicyclist.
