A CTA bus accident occurred Tuesday (May 21, 2019) in Chicago’s Back of the Yards neighborhood. This CTA bus accident involved a CTA bus that collided with a SUV. Eleven people were hurt during the crash.
According to Chicago Police, this CTA bus accident occurred at approximately 6:30 a.m.
An excerpt concerning the cause of the collision and injuiries, from the May 21, 2019 Chicago Sun-Times article titled “CTA bus crashes into SUV on Ashland Avenue in Little Village, 11 injuries reported“:
The SUV was southbound about 6:30 a.m. in the 4100 block of South Ashland when the driver tried to make a left turn in front of the northbound bus, according to Chicago police and fire officials. It was then hit by the bus.
Two of the eleven people injured were critically injured. Those two were taken to Stroger Hospital for treatment of their accident injuries.
The nine other injured people were taken to area hospitals for treatment of their injuries.
As can be seen in a photo of the accident scene, the SUV was badly damaged in the accident. The damage appeared to be mostly frontal damage.

The 25-year-old man was cited with failure to stay in his lane, failure to reduce speed, driving with an invalid license and driving while uninsured.
