Two serious Chicago pedestrian accidents have recently occurred in which the pedestrians were hit by cars and seriously injured. The accidents occurred in Chicago’s South Shore and West Loop neighborhoods.
The first pedestrian accident occurred Friday (December 7, 2018) night in the West Loop. This accident is discussed in the December 13, 2018 abc7chicago.com article (with video) titled “Surveillance image released in West Loop hit-and-run.” As discussed in the article, the 59-year-old pedestrian was walking in a crosswalk in the 500 block of West Washington Boulevard at about 10:48 p.m. when the pedestrian was seriously injured after being hit by a Dodge Charger. The dark-colored Dodge Charger fled from the accident scene. Those who may have information regarding the crash – which left the Charger with front-end damage near the passenger side of the car – are asked to call the Chicago Police Department Major Accident Investigation Unit at 312-745-4521.
The second pedestrian accident occurred Friday (December 14, 2018) morning in the South Shore neighborhood. At approximately 8:45 a.m. a 4-year-old boy was standing with his aunt on a sidewalk near the intersection of 67th Street and Jeffrey Boulevard when he was hit by a car that was involved in a “chain-reaction” crash. The boy was critically injured and hospitalized for treatment of injuries that reportedly included a concussion. Additional details regarding this Chicago pedestrian accident can be seen in a variety of media sources, including the December 14, 2018 Chicago Sun-Times article titled “4-year-old boy injured in chain-reaction crash in South Shore.”
