Chicago Near West Side Crash Leads To Three Fatalities

There was a fatal crash on Chicago’s Near West Side early Sunday (June 23, 2019) night.  The crash, which involved a fire, led to the death of three people in a car.  The three people appear to have been trapped in the car after the accident.

Details on this fatal crash on Chicago’s Near West Side remain somewhat limited at this time.

An excerpt regarding the fatal crash, from the Chicago Tribune article of June 24, 2019 titled “3 killed in crash on Near West Side“:

A Chevy Malibu traveling east from near Western Avenue and Oakley Boulevard struck a Mitsubishi Outlander heading south on Oakley about 6:05 p.m. in the 2300 block of West Harrison Street, police said. The Malibu then hit a light pole and caught fire.

Three people who were in the Malibu suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead on the scene, according to police. One person in the Outlander suffered minor injuries.

The accident remains under investigation by the Chicago Police Department Major Accident Investigation Unit.
