In the January 2, 2017 post (“Two Chicago Hit & Run Pedestrian Accidents“) two pedestrian accidents that involved “hit & run” drivers were summarized. One of these accidents (that in the South Austin neighborhood) led to the death of the female pedestrian.
Additional details have been released concerning the nature of the December 30, 2016 pedestrian accident that happened in the Gold Coast neighborhood. Those details are discussed in the January 2, 2017 abc7chicago.com article (with video) titled “Woman injured in Gold Coast hit-and-run, driver sought.” An excerpt quoting Sara Paulson, the 34-year-old woman who was struck and injured during the accident:
“I just heard a peel out and I looked up and the car was just coming at me,” she recalled. “I hit the bumper and then I rolled up on the hood and then I bounced off the windshield and I was airborne and flew down onto the pavement.”
As seen by this account – as well as details of other such crashes – pedestrian accidents are often (very) physically traumatic. Pedestrian accidents and the resulting injuries are further discussed on the “Chicago Pedestrian Accidents” page. As discussed, pedestrian accidents are notable in many regards. One notable aspect is the broad range of accident injuries that can occur during a pedestrian accident. Another notable aspect is that such injuries can be serious in nature, and in many cases can be fatal.
As mentioned in the “Pedestrian Accidents” page, there are many steps one will want to immediately take if one is hit by a vehicle while walking. These steps are meant to protect both one’s health as well as one’s legal rights, including the rights to collect accident injury compensation.
