“Hit & Run” accidents continue to be a problematical aspect of traffic safety in the Chicago metropolitan area. There was a fatal “hit & run” accident that happened on September 18, 2017 on Interstate 294 (I-294) near Alsip. The accident involved an Illinois Tollway worker, David Schwarz, 48, of Monee, being fatally struck by a semi truck. At the time of the accident, Schwarz was pickup up debris in the southbound lane of I-294 near Cicero Avenue.
