As discussed on both the “Chicago Bicycling Accidents” page as well as the “Chicago Bicycle Accident Injuries” page, there are many types of bicycle accidents that can occur. Many such accidents lead to serious accident injuries, and some lead to fatal injuries. Among the most serious accident injuries that can result from bicycle accidents is head injuries.
One type of bicycle accident is a “dooring” accident. For those unaware, such accidents happen when a driver opens the car door and a bicyclist who is approaching the car from the rear rides into the opened door. While these accidents typically happen in urban settings (because of the substantial amount of parallel parking) they can also happen in suburban settings where cars or vehicles are parked on the street, and the bicyclist has to “ride around” the parked vehicle.
