Carjacking Suspect Chased By Police, Crashes Car In Chicago

This morning, Chicago Police and Illinois State Police chased a suspected carjacker for 11 miles before the suspect crashed his van and was apprehended. During the pursuit the suspect shot at the pursuing officers.

The pursuit began on Chicago’s Far South Side and ended in the Bronzeville neighborhood.

The chase began around 2:00 a.m. in the 10000 block of South Normal Avenue; then north on I57 and the Dan Ryan Expressway; and then into various South Side neighborhoods.

The chase ended when the van crashed in a parking lot near 30th Street and Vernon Avenue. The suspect wasn’t injured in the crash.
