Boy Struck By Car In Arlington Heights

Pedestrian accidents remain a significant concern, as many pedestrian accidents in Chicago and the broader Chicagoland area occur, many with serious injuries, including fatalities.  On this site, pedestrian accidents are summarized and otherwise discussed under the “Pedestrian Accidents” category.

A boy, said to be younger than 10 years old, was struck by a car Wednesday night in Arlington Heights.   According to a preliminary investigation by the Arlington Heights Police, the accident happened at approximately 5:15 p.m., as a boy was leaving Our Lady of the Wayside Church.  The boy was struck as he attempted to cross the street in front of the church.

An excerpt from the March 16, 2016 Daily Herald article titled “Boy hit by car crossing street in Arlington Heights,” citing Arlington Heights Police Sgt. Alan Baumgartner:

“There was no way the driver could have seen him,” Baumgartner said, adding that the boy ran out into the road in front of a parked car and was not at a crosswalk.

The woman who was driving is not expected to be cited, he said.

The boy was taken by ambulance to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights.  His accident injuries were reported to include bleeding in his brain from his head striking the car.

Additional details and possible updates concerning this pedestrian accident can be seen in a variety of media sources, including the Daily Herald article mentioned above, as well as the Chicago Tribune article of March 17 titled “Boy hit by car in Arlington Heights, taken to hospital.”
