Bishop Ford Freeway Fatal Traffic Accident

There was a fatal traffic accident Monday (April 9, 2018) afternoon on the Bishop Ford Freeway.  Two people were killed in the crash and another person was seriously injured.

According to information provided by the Illinois State Police, the two-vehicle crash happened on Interstate 94 near 159th Street at approximately 12:20 p.m.

An excerpt regarding the accident, from the Chicago Tribune article of April 9, 2018 titled “2 dead, 1 seriously injured in Bishop Ford crash“:

Edward Robinson was driving a gray Pontiac sedan about 12:20 p.m. Monday in the northbound lanes of the Bishop Ford Freeway when he began to change from the middle lane to the right lane. That’s when the driver of a black GMC SUV that had been behind the Pontiac rear-ended ite Pontiac , police said.

After the rear-end collision the Pontiac ran into a concrete wall on the far right.  The occupants were trapped in the car. Both Edward Robinson, 58, of Chicago, as well as a backseat passenger, identified as Charlene Robinson, 93, died as a result of the accident.

Another passenger inside of the Pontiac, identified as a 46-year-old woman from Houston, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn for treatment of her accident injuries.  She was reported to be in serious condition.

The three people that were in the GMC SUV were not injured during the accident.
