There was a bicycle accident early Saturday morning (November 22, 2014) on Chicago’s Lake Shore Drive. This accident involved a bicyclist who was riding a Divvy bike, and, according to Chicago Police, alcohol was a thought to be “major factor” impacting the bicyclist.
According to Chicago Police, the accident happened at approximately 2:50 a.m., as the bicyclist, a 24-year-old man, was riding northbound on Lake Shore Drive near Belmont (in the 3100 block of North Lake Shore Drive.)
According to an occupant in the Mitsubishi sedan who struck the bicyclist, the bicyclist was “swerving” before being struck by the car. The bicyclist was thrown under this car during the course of the accident. Subsequent to this accident, the Mitsubishi and cyclist were struck by another car, a Honda, that could not stop in time to avoid an accident.
The bicyclist was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in critical condition.
According to Chicago Police, the 22-year-old driver of the Honda was cited for driving an uninsured vehicle.
