Bicyclist Dies Following Englewood Accident

There was a bicycle accident Sunday afternoon (April 5, 2015) in Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood (South Side).  The bicyclist died Monday afternoon from his accident injuries.

The bicycle accident occurred as the bicyclist, identified as Michael Joseph, 59, of Chicago, was riding westbound in the 1200 block of West 74th Street at approximately 1:30 p.m.  According to Chicago Police, at that time a light-colored Chevy sedan struck him from behind, and then fled the accident scene.

Joseph was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, and, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office, he died on Monday.

This fatal bicycle accident is under investigation by the Chicago Police Department’s Major Accidents Unit.
