Bicycle accidents often lead to serious accident injuries. Many of these injuries can become life-threatening in nature. As seen in the Chicago-area bicycle accidents that have been summarized on this site, a variety of accident injuries have resulted from such crashes.
As discussed on the “Chicago Bicycle Accidents” and “Chicago Bicycle Accident Injuries” pages, bicycle accidents can happen for many reasons. Many such accidents are the fault of other parties such as motorists. Riding in urban settings, in heavy traffic, can present many potential challenges to safe riding.
Due to many factors, cyclists who are injured during a crash that is not their fault often seek compensation for their accident injuries through the filing of a personal injury lawsuit. These lawsuits can seek various types of compensation, depending upon such factors as the type and severity of the injuries as well as the hardships caused by these injuries.
Recently there have been two notable bicycle accidents. The first accident happened in DeKalb on August 23, 2018, and is further discussed in the August 24, 2018 DeKalb Chronicle article titled “DeKalb bicyclist killed in collision.” As seen in the article, a man was killed as he rode his bicycle to work.
In a second bicycle accident in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood, a bicyclist was hit by a driver who allegedly was driving a stolen car. This accident is discussed in the September 14, 2018 Block Club Chicago article titled “Cyclist Hit By Driver Of Stolen Car At Logan Square/Avondale Border Faces Long Recovery.” As seen in the article, the cyclist was hit by a driver who was allegedly driving the wrong direction. The cyclist was seriously injured, and her injuries include spinal fractures, a fractured shoulder, a collapsed lung and various lacerations. The cyclist can’t walk without assistance at this time.
Additional details regarding bicycle accidents and the resulting accident injuries can be seen in the sources mentioned above.
