There was a fatal car crash early Sunday morning (May 28, 2017) in Chicago’s South Deering neighborhood.
According to information provided by the Chicago Police Department, the accident happened as a car with two women occupants was traveling southbound at approximately 4:45 a.m. in the 10300 block of South Commercial Avenue.
At that time, the car crashed into the back of a parked semi truck. At this time it is not known why the accident occurred.
During the crash the car became wedged underneath the truck’s trailer.
The car’s occupants were twin sisters identified as Abril Delapaz, 26, and Brisa Delapaz-Carvajal, 26, of Chicago. They were pronounced dead at the accident scene by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The accident remains under investigation by the Chicago Police Major Accidents Investigation Unit.
