There was a large “chain-reaction” crash Monday night (March 13, 2017) on the Kennedy Expressway. At least 35 cars were involved, and seven people were injured in the crash.
The crash happened on the Kennedy Expressway between Division Street and North Avenue, in the inbound express lanes, at approximately 10:15 p.m.
The crash happened as snow fell and the road conditions were slick.
An excerpt from the NBC Chicago article (with video) of March 14, 2017 titled “7 Hospitalized in 35-Car Pileup on Kennedy Expressway“:
One driver involved in the accident told NBC 5 his car slid for about 100 yards and “just could not stop.”
“We were all going too fast,” he said. “I don’t know if the express lanes should have been open.”
Seven people were taken to hospitals for treatment of accident injuries. Of those people, one 39-year-old man was reported to be in serious condition.
Additional details and possible updates concerning this Kennedy Expressway crash can be seen in a variety of media sources, including the NBC Chicago article mentioned above, as well as the March 14 Chicago Tribune article titled “Up to 35 cars crash on Kennedy Expressway late Monday” and the March 14 Highland Park Patch article titled “7 Hospitalized After 35-Vehicle Pileup on Kennedy.”
