There have been at least two notable recent hit & run accidents in Chicago, with one leading to the death of the pedestrian.
Details on both of the accidents appear limited at this time.
The first accident happened early Friday morning (December 30, 2016) at around 3:00 a.m. The woman was struck as she attempted to cross the street near North Dearborn and West Elm Street. Chicago Police say the woman was stuck by a red Mercedes that was heading northbound on Dearborn at the time of the pedestrian crash. The driver did not stop after the accident. The woman struck was taken to Northwestern Hospital for treatment of accident injuries, which are believed to include either a leg or ankle injury.
The second accident happened in Chicago’s South Austin neighborhood on Monday morning (January 2, 2017) at 6:15 a.m. The collision occurred in the 5300 block of West Chicago Avenue. The woman, who has not yet been publicly identified, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital for treatment of her accident injuries, and was in serious to critical condition. She later died.
