There was a fatal Chicago pedestrian accident Thursday (December 22, 2016) in the Little Village neighborhood.
According to police, the accident happened at approximately 3:30 p.m., at 28th Street near Drake Avenue. At that time, a truck with an Amazon logo, which was heading westbound on 28th Street, was attempting to make a turn and struck the woman . According to witness accounts, at the time of the accident the woman was walking in a crosswalk.
The woman was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, and she later died. She was identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office as Telesfora Escamilla, 84, of Chicago.

The driver, Valdimar Gray, 29, of the 3400 block of West Chicago Avenue, was charged with operating an uninsured vehicle, police said. Gray received tickets for hitting a pedestrian in the right of way, failing to carry a driver’s license and failing to stop at a stop sign, police said.
