Fatal Pedestrian Accident In Glenview

There was a fatal pedestrian accident Friday (October 21, 2016) in Glenview.

According to Glenview Police, the accident happened at approximately 6:49 a.m., as a man was attempting to cross the southbound lanes of Milwaukee Avenue, south of Gregory Drive.  He was struck by a car as he attempted to cross the southbound lanes.

An excerpt from the October 24, 2016 Glenview Announcements article titled “Northbrook man fatally hit by car in Glenview,” quoting the Glenview Police Department:

Sgt. Jim Foley said Monday morning that Arroyo was not in a crosswalk, and crossed the northbound lane and made it to the median before walking into the southbound lane.

“One lane of traffic was stopped and the other wasn’t. I guess he didn’t see the other lane of traffic,” Foley said.

The man hit was identified as Marcos Arroyo, 53, of Northbrook.  He was taken to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.  According to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office, he was pronounced dead at 8:35 a.m.

The motorist was not charged in relation to the accident.

An excerpt from the October 25 Daily North Shore article titled “Glenview Car Crash Kills Northbrook Man“:

Glenview police were assisted by the major crash assistance team of the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force, according to the release.

NORTAF is a cooperative effort of police departments in Evanston, Glencoe, Glenview, Kenilworth, Lincolnwood, Morton Grove, Northbrook, Northfield, Skokie, Wheeling, Wilmette and Winnetka, according to the group’s website.
