There was a fatal SUV rollover crash Sunday morning (October 2, 2016) on the Dan Ryan Expressway on Chicago’s South Side.
According to the Illinois State Police (ISP), the accident happened at approximately 9:35 a.m. At that time, a southbound 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer, traveling at a high rate of speed in the express lanes, veered from the far left lane into the middle lane.
An excerpt from the NBC Chicago article, titled “Woman Killed in Rollover Crash on Dan Ryan Expressway” of October 2, 2016, as to what happened next:
The Trailblazer struck the driver’s side of a red Cadillac CTS, then veered back into the far left lane and struck the concrete median. It then rolled over onto its passenger side, according to police.
The driver of the Trailblazer, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, was partially ejected during the accident.
The woman, identified as Brenda Whitehead, 52, of Chicago, was pronounced dead after being taken to Stroger Hospital.
Two people in the Cadillac refused medical treatment at the accident scene.
