There was a pedestrian accident Monday morning (July 25, 2016) in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood in which a mother and her three children were struck by a CTA bus.
According to Chicago Police, the accident happened on Halsted Street near Waveland Avenue at approximately 10:10 a.m. At that time, a CTA bus, driving north on Halsted past Waveland, struck the mother – who was carrying an 8-week-old infant – and her 6-year-old and 2-year-old children.
The force of the collision knocked the infant from the mother’s arms. The children were taken to Lurie Children’s Hospital for treatment of their accident injuries, and were said to be in stable condition. The mother was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
The bus driver was also injured and taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center with injuries that were considered to be non-life-threatening in nature.
